Podiatry deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of clinical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
Podiatrists treat include those resulting from bone and joint disorders such as arthritis and soft-tissue and muscular pathologies. Podiatrists are also able to diagnose and treat skin and nail disorders, corns, calluses and ingrown toenails. Foot injuries gained through sport or other activities are also diagnosed and treated by podiatrists.
You do not usually need a referral to see a podiatrist. The exception is if your GP is referring under the Medicare Chronic Disease Management Program or via Veterans Affairs. You need the referral before your treatment.
Your Health Fund's extra cover may pay a rebate for podiatry services. You will need to check if you have podiatry cover. If you are covered, we can process your claim through our HICAPS terminal, saving you time. You will only pay the balance.
A benefit is payable from Medicare when your GP refers you via a Chronic Disease Mangemant Plan.
We accept cash, cheques and EFTPOS and credit cards. We also accept American Express. Our practice has HICAPS.
