Podiatrists are trained in clinical history taking, physical examination, diagnosis, preparation of a treatment plan. To provide a diagnosis and prognosis clinical, podiatrists consider medical and surgical history, footwear, occupational and lifestyle factors, and may refer for x-rays or ultrasound scan.
Podiatry is taught at university and podiatrist graduate with an applied science degree. Podiatrists are regulated by AHPRA, are required to adhere to a code of ethics and remain up to date via compulsory continuing education.
